Don't stare at the eye.
I know, I know...dumb post considering the board's population is from all over the planet. But maybe I'll get lucky. I can't find any local resources for getting an old tube amp repaired in the St. Louis, MO area (or on the east side in IL).

I've seen some rather knowledgeable posts from folks that I think were at least in the vacinity. So if you're out there or you know someone who is, lemme know!

BTW--it's a 25 watt Harmony H400 tube amp from the '60's. Tubes and speaker have been replaced. Same result with new or old of either. Just a loud buzzing noise when it powers on--none of the guitar even comes through. It's as simple as a piece of electronics can be, but apparently, I'm even simpler... :(

Did you? Did I ask this before and now I'm just being an idiot? If so, sorry 'bout that. But if not--you helped anyway. jonnyc gave it to me, but he got it from you! So it's all you anyway!

Funny thing is--I know Carlos! Well actually, I know his sister. Worked with her for a long time. But I completely forgot about Carlos & what he was doing. I'd have never remembered, so between you & jonnyc, I got the help I needed. Thanks!

This isn't to specific, but there's a shop in Dogtown that may do good work on tube amps (vintage, etc.). I don't know the name, but there cant' be that many shop in that area.

There's some other shop in Maplewood (on Manchester near Wallmart) that's got a lot of vintage, high end stuff that probably does tube work as well.

Plus there's always Fazio's in west county.

I'm sorry I don't have the actual names - but I've been to the one in Maplewood and I couldn't afford anything there (but they had really nice stuff!), so I never went back. A friend of mine swears by the place in Dogtown, but I've never been there.

Good luck!

Fusioninspace:

Thanks. Don't worry about names. Just knowing they're in Maplewood & Dogtown is enough for me to find 'em.

I appreciate the help!

Jimmy Gravity, Silver Strings (Ed Seelig), Fazio's (Mike is VERY good friend of mine). Hell, I bet I could fix one:D

I've got a beat on someone, but who knows--I might just take you up on that challenge!

Jimmy Gravity--it's been forever since I've been there--is he down on Broadway?

Yes indeed. Across the street from the Boilermakers Union Hall.

Yep, I'm gonna start there (LS). I've talked to both Tom & Carlos about the amp. I'm heading down to Dallas for the day tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to taking the amp in to them on Friday...

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll post back when it's fixed.
