Mainly the lack of phantom power on the non "B" version and that it would be a bit older. I'm not sure whether or not electronically they're identical or not but they're fine boards nevertheless.

I see one on eBay currently (cheap - $75 BIN). I'd grab it.

"The M-300B series mixers are new versions of the TASCAM M-300 series recording mixers. The M-300Bs differ from the M-300s in several ways. Phantom power (48 volt) has been added for microphones that require it. The nominal and minimum input levels of the effects returns have been lowered so that devices with lower output levels can be used with better results. Four additional VU meters now appear on the M-320B. In every other way, the M-300B mixers are identical to the M-300s; their operation is therefore identical."

Quite the definitive answer.

Daniel, I saw that M308...tought about grabbing it but wasn't too sure. I knew the shipping would be pretty spendy *if* done right, and that was my secondary concern. Obviously its a smaller mixer, but not immune from poor packing and in-transit damage RIGHT??

Also, some of the closeup pictures gave the appearance that the console face was relatively soiled. It was all there, but it went before the Seller replied to my questions. I'm going to keep my feelers out for something local.

Yeah, the 308 weighs about 45 lbs and has a somewhat of an awkward shape and thus would require better than the standard shipping option. Still, I've had experiences with sellers which would not follow my packing instructions and thus you're at the mercy of the person sending you the item. Most have no idea what a package goes through in transit or simply have no imagination as to what it takes to pack right. But yeah, local pickup is always best and if you can do that, by all means do it.

Yeah, I saw that too but it was cheap enough ..... Shipping would be another issue altogether though..

I'll tell you, those boards go for a lot less than they rightfully should, for the quality you get.
