Nice buddy, if you look at my song list, I've submitted like 30 songs under different band names, etc and I think I've had 1 featured, 3 2nd staged and the rest were rejects.

It's a fun site, and the beauty is YOU are the critic. The panel is composed of whomever shows up and votes for songs. If you want to change things, get in there, vote, critique and throw your weight around.

I have no control except for my vote. Hey, everyone has their own tastes and just like the real world, people that like heavy music are generally outnumbered by the ones that like radio friendly music.

I've seen some soul, R&B and Jazz go totally ignored.

I'd say your tune is plenty catchy, so you'll be disappointed and get some really nice feedback and as time goes on and people hear it, it will grow. Someone might be nasty and hey- I'll be nasty too if you want me too. I've gotten down and dirty on a tune for the right price.

But honestly if you want to change the place: chime in and make your point. That's what I did.

oh I do have a request to sort or play or divide by genre, but that's been ignored as well or turned down, but I'm pretty insistent

Told ya. Mostly re-hashed indie/"guy & his guitar" BS getting jocked over there.

eh that's what I find 90% of the "reported" music industry is, unless it's a band that's been well known for a long time. We're definitely due for another major shift in popular music... just when the fuck will it happen?!?!


Indie is the new mainstream, and there's not much room for anyone else *sigh*. And people wonder why I hate that shit.

haha yes. I agree with you. It's in need of it badly. I see all kinds of really well made songs in the reject bin simply because of the genre not being of the reviewers liking... it's hard to get objective reviews (which is what the site says it's for) if you get some emo fan just rejecting every other kind of music that's put on there. I also noticed, almost all of the rejections don't give any reason at all.. not too much of "objective" reviews... more like... the indie rock club... And we're all not in it.

It's just sad, because... bands like that hardly need a helping hand... everyone wants to cover the latest indie rock band or the latest squirrelly happy-go-lucky emo/fake punk band. These bands aren't really underground or indie half the time (usually going with the title of "indie rock" while being signed to a major label, with huge marketing dollars behind them). Once the entire music media world has finished sucking off these bands, there's not much left over for those who do anything else. Not AS much a rant of redfizz specifically... just the music media world in general. It's just sad to see, YET ANOTHER outlet for independent music following the same plan.

Anyway, I was pretty much expecting that, just wish that they would have wrote some really hilarious (ow my ears hurt) or something like that review, so I could use it haha.

another thing, the featured, 2nd stage and rejects may just go away entirely because it pisses a lot of people off. I am curious about that

also, should I add that the songs for a long time have been decided democratically by voting and there have only been about 7 to 10 critics for the last year, depending on who was able to vote, etc. Random artists would vote on tunes, and mostly vote down and slam anything that wasn't theirs.

Now, we've got a few more active voters, crits and such showing up but we're inundated with tunes. I really hope more people stick around and vote, but sometimes I get fatigued too.

There are many sites but I feel like this is special. I've heard and learned and laughed a lot.

I do agree with your comments, and hope the cream rises, and hope the good tunes get their due, and artists get help and feedback.

Time will tell.
Cheers mate, thanks for playing and responding. Also, I'd encourage you to voice your opinions in the forum. Maybe if enough people say this stuff, things will change.
 
Does redfizz really want people to enter their contest? I went to add my band, registered, uploaded band info, went to add a song, and it took me back to where I started backstage. I go to "my redfizz" and "band/song info" and it says I have no band for that account. Go through the "add band" thing again, and it says there's already a band with that name. So, apparently, it added my band, but did not add it to my account. I emailed redfizz and recieved no response. It's been a week. I posted in the forums and only got smart ass responses, and no help from redfizz again. This website design does not seem very user friendly, and neither do the people.

hey, would you do me a favor? tell that dude that i checked out his band, and for some reason, it wasn't associated with any critic. anyway, it's now associated with his username, so he should be able to upload songs.
