Remix of an old song

Dig the tune. I am listening to the newest I think, sounds like a solid mix. My only nit is that is seems to be lacking in the high frequency range, it sounds just a hair muted. Other than that, its a well balanced mix and a good song.

Thanks! I agree about it being slightly dark, I have a fourth mix that I brightened the mix up a tad, and put just a tiny amount of EQ on the mixbuss. Maybe I'll post that. I think It's overdone though, but I tend to mix kinda dark. Getting better, but still......

I got my FTP working again, so here is a bit brighter mix. Better, or too much?

I really really like this mix... The only thing I would do if I mastered it, is expand the stereo field slightly. Regardless, this is excellent.

Thanks Steve!

Anybody else wanna compare version 3 and 4? That would help me the most.

Version 3 vs. 4: And the winner is....4.

Bordering on too bright by comparison to #3, but not. I much prefer this last mix. Nice job.

Hi

You nailed it :-)

Nr. 4 is a great mix !!!

Dirk

Nice, the final version is nice and bright.

Wow. All four of you like #4 better? How can you all be so wrong??!?!? :D Just kidding. I guess I really need to figure out a way to acustom my ears to brighter mixes. #4 seems harsh to me, but I already knew #3 was a tad dark, and now I know it's more than a tad dark.

I'm really struggling with getting over that next hurdle. My mixes are too dark, and don't have that nice top end like a commercial mix does........

Thanks for the critiques!

I think they are tied, ja
Nº 3 is a little dark and Nº 4 is to bright on the cymbals.
Reducing cymbals(or cymbals reverb) hi end a little on mix Nº 4 would make it less irritating.
Great recording man.;)

Yeah, the cymbals are a bit harsh. They weren't recorded the best. The high-end in 4 is too much to me, but It seems that most like it better. Hopefully I can get a few more opinions.
