Hey people....

sorry to write so much, but I just want to give you the whole picture.

My new PC only has 3 standard PCI slots on it's MB, and they are allocated to my 3 soundcards (Delta's and a Gina).....and that's all fine...(that's the most older-type PCI slots I could find with a P35 chipset MB that I liked)...anyway, move on.

I was using one of the PCI slots for a basic midi soundcard that connected the v-amp to my PC software, via midi/gameport, thus allowing full and better control of my v-amp....but I need my 3 PCI sound cards to be always installed!

I've tried using a USB to midi convertor, and that just didn't work the way it should, so I won't labour with that shit....

So, I just want to know if anyone knows of a BASIC midi soundcard, with a good old GAMEPORT that's compatible with the smaller PCI ExpressX1 slots, of which I have three available on my MB.

I'd like to hear from you!!

Cheers,
Spit.

I own the v-amp pro(rackmount version)
and i use one of THESE without any problems to control my v-amp. Ive used it on 2 different laptops and various PC's without any problems...i never installed the drivers that came with the disk either...XP sees it when ya plug it in and is/was good to go.

I MH....I got one of these, (for about 1/5th of the price)...

I thought it would do the same thing as the M-Audio version you have? (thinking that the USB/MIDI protocol standard was universal).....lol!

I could 'send data' to the V-pro (parameter settings, control tweaks etc), but nothing back from the V-pro to the PC, rendering saving libraries and presets useless.

I wonder if I've fallen for a case of "you get what you pay for"..?
Still, how could it be so wrong!?..I've tried every setting/config I could think of.
MH?...any chance of getting a screen shot of your 'config/scan' screen?

Thanx for your response mate,
Cheers,
Spit.

So are you saying when you open up the V-Amp editor nothing shows up? It should have a grid with Preset A-E across and Bank 1-25 up and down which shows all of your patches that are currently stored.

Don't the Deltas have MIDI I/O?

Hi....I'm running 2 44's, and a Gina 8 channel....no midi.
I was using an SB for a midi interface, and this was perfect.....but no more slots for it.

Hi!...
yes, I see the matrix, but a 'scan' doesn't want to pick up the usb to midi convertor.
Strange, as when I 'abort' I'm allowed to change the parameters on the vamp via the PC, (not the other way around though, and I've lost all my presets, it just shows 'user preset' on each cell of the matrix........bummer.

When the matrix is open and you go to the top and click Windows>Configuration does it show your V-amp as a recognized device? Is your midi interface listed in the "In Port" "Out Port" section?

Hi...there is nothing in the "recognised device" window.

It does find 'usb audio device' in the 'in port' (faded out and locked) and 'out port' of the config window.
In the 'usb out-port' it does give a scroll down option for 'usb audio device 2' and 'MS GS Wavetable'.
Pressing 're-scan' just gives me the abort option and the 'midi-thru' warning.....(which I remember from a long time ago, I changed this setting on the actual unit, forgotten how to now, but I'd say that it hasn't been changed.
I've forgotten how to check for that.

Thanx for your help so far guys, maybe hope yet?
