Sorry david,
as mentioned above both soundclick & lightning were rejecting me yesterday. Things seemed to have improved today so here's the latest mix:

Gerry,
Computer - what's that?
I have no idea. I sent a displeased email to the fellow on Thursday evening last but no reply.
I'll progress from displeased to cross at any tick of the clock.

Hi Ray - I guess you'll be looking for a different computer repair shop next time. That pretty poor performance.

Mix - Sounds great - I could still use a bit more volume on the vocals on the verses; I'm a fan of Terry's vocals! :D

I think this might be the last remix for the sake of your patience folks.
I resequenced the virtual signal chain on the vocals as well as boosting the vox a tiny bit.
The former seems to have assisted clarity & definition, the latter is because Ido requested it & he has a very good ear.
Any final words?

Hi Ray - listening to this on my earbuds at work this morning. The vocals are still giving me problems. They are eq'd to reduce the essing, which is good. The essing problem is almost inaudible. But at the same time it is giving them a somewhat cloudy/bass-y nature.

I think this causes them to be less bright, less audible, less clear than say, the guitars or drums.

When I listen to this on my laptop speakers it is more noticeable, the highs are lacking on the vocals and the guitars and drums are drowning them out.

Listening on earbuds I can hear the vocals (actually quite well) but they are definitely lacking the highs that would set them up with the rest of the mix.

As soon as I eq on WMP of course I get the essing so I am going to defer this to anyone who may be able to suggest how we up the highs without the esses - perhaps a specific frequency range...or maybe more than one...

Anyone out there had this issue before and have suggestions?

Ido, did you listen to my remix of Ray's softdance? What did you think of the vocal clarity? If you think it would help, I could write down the settings I used and pass them along.
Here's the "Softdance" remix.

Peace!

Good tune, very Ray-esque and quirky. Dig the flute.

I agree with Gerry, the vocals have no highs and are muddy. I havent heard earlier versions, I am guessing you overcompensated and went nuts.:D

but they are definitely lacking the highs that would set them up with the rest of the mix.
Agreed, they dont fit the tune. They sound muted when everything else is fairly bright. The tune reminds me of the New Wave era. I gotta find my thin-band sunglasses.

Sorry, not sure which version I just listened to, but it’s one of the last two. The vocal does sound like it could use a little more high freq in it. Also if there’s anything that can make the bass gtr sound more lifelike it’d be great because the part itself is really good, in fact one of the best parts in the mix I think, but it sounds kind of filtered.
