would it be wise/compatible to pull out the 2 x 12 inch VOX original 16 ohm speaker from my new AD50VT-212 and replace them with 2 x 12 inch G12T-75 from my 1960A Cab.

would everything match up fine?

thanks in advance :)

not sure.....

are they 16 ohm speakers too?

here is the info on the G12T-75, it looks like it has 16 & 8. I'm just a little confused bro'
Can you help me out? here are the links:

on the vox speakers it seams like when they put one speaker in a box they use 8ohm, but when they put in two they use 16ohm. Does that mean each of my speakers are 16ohm, or are they 16ohm together?

sorry for adding another question, the more important question is if i can make the switch or not (i have both of the backs open waiting for a decision :D )

P.S thanks for the assistance thus far Lt. Bob

ok ..... well . it seems like, in that case, that Vox wants an 8 ohm load on that amp. That's why they would use an 8 ohm if it's a single speaker and for two speakers, they use 16 ohms because in parallel, 2-16ohm speakers give you an 8 ohm load.
And those speakers can be either. So what you need to do is look on the speakers themselves and see what they're marked as. It'll be there somewhere although maybe not big and obvious. But somewhere on those speakers it's gonna say whether it's 16 or 8 ohms. It may be on the magnet or it may be a small stamp or sticker by the terminals but it's there.

Now, most of the time in a 4-12 cab they use 16 ohm speakers so that's probably what they are but you need to be sure! so check them.
If they are 16 ohms ...... then it's a simple replacement ..... no prob.
But if they're 8 ohms ..... that gets a bit tricky.
Does Vox try to keep it at an 8 ohm load because it's prone to blowing up at lower loads? Maybe ..... I don't know the answer to that but some amps have trouble with a 4 ohm load.
So the very next thing for you to do is to really look those speakers over and find out what the impedance (ohms) is.
If they are 16 which is what I kinda expect ... you're golden.
If they are 8 ohms ...... well then we'll have to talk some more. But I did go look at that link and all the Vox specs were t@ 8 ohms so I'm thinking that's the load they want.
I think you're gonna be in good shape but just make sure they are 16 ohms before proceeding.

If the speakers are the same impedance and the same power rating, you can swap them as long as you wire them up the same way as the originals. The impedance is usually printed or stamped on the magnet.

getting closer

well the celestion is definitely 16ohm / 75watts

the vox has no sticker just a stamp VOXAD50VT212
but the website does say they are 16ohm, that's all the info they give.

so if i make the swap the power from the head will be 50watts and the speakers will equal 150watts. Does that sound like it would pair up OK?

and will it be safe to load the vox originals in the 1960A cab that i grabbed the celestions from?

again......Thanks to you guys

As long as the Celestion is 16 ohms then go for it. The greater wattage capacity of the Celestions won't be a factor. The speakers will handle more than the Vox puts out so that'll be fine.
But as for putting the vox speakers back in the 1960 cab. Some folks like mismatched speakers these days because they feel they get the best of both speakers that way.
But I'm not a big fan of it myself. The problem you can run into is that one speakers gonna be more efficient than the other so you'll mainly hear whichever is the loudest and won't hear the less efficient speaker much.
From a strictly electronic viewpoint ...,. yes, if they are 16 ohms then you can stick them in that cab and it won't harm the amp, but they will not match the Celestions that are already in there.
