Anyone have anything to do with Bayview or Cascade trying to get a Fathead mic? I have been waiting for over a month - I have original order notification but no follow up on payment method - I'm an OS customer - I then emailed sales at Cascade to ask them and 2 weeks of nothing from them.

Every other supplier, big or small, I have dealt with in US from Sweetwater to Keeley is back within 24 - anyone got me any clues what’s going on? I just assume they do not want international sales!

I imagine that's what the problem is.

It seems to me like getting a chinese mic in Hong Kong would be cheaper than getting one that's been sent to the us back over to china.

Why are you wanting to buy one from the US?

Don't know. I know I don't like dealing with out of country entities. Customs and shipping and other issues are just too much of a headache.

I did contact via email cascade about a purchase and got a response from the CEO within 24 hours. Didn't follow up on it right away since I didn't really have the funds to toss around at that time. Sent a second email downsizing what I originally wanted a month or more later. And requesting a discount, since I'm such a nice guy. You'll never get it, if you don't ask for it. And still haven't gotten a reply on that one. Apparently free shipping and 10% off isn't an option for orders over $500. I guess I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Believe you me I have tried - the market here is so small and preferenced to the big Brands (AKG) that no one would buy bulk mainland made mics and sell on retail in Hong Kong. Irony hey.

My understanding was that the Cascade Mic was all US made and quality control was superior - I'd rather get the job done right first then get a cheapy then have Octavia mod it for the same price.

I did research because I thought of starting a business, but it cost me the same in HK to get mics, slightly less mail, but then if I set up business posting to US out of HK - I still could not compete with US retailer purchasing bulk from China and posting US internally. There are plenty of business opportunities in Asia - but web-based mic sales is not one of them.

Maybe I’ll try the CEO – do you have his email I only did sales

"Buy from a real microphone company with an address and people that answer the phone."

Cascade Microphones. Established 2000. "We'll be here when you need us"

HA!

It seems crazy that you can't really get chinese made mics in china. It boggles my mind.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the guy from cascade microphones just orders mics from China that are tweaked to his specks. Once they're in the usa he does Q.C. and will do the transformer upgrades.

my experience with cascade was fine. good response time to question 'n junk. of course i'm a domestic customer, so who knows if that has something to do with it....

Same as you guys in the states - bulk buy or no buy - I even tried posing as a retailer asking for samples and they smelt a rat straight away

But at least we have distributors here. That sucks man.

Yeah but last night in our budget every tax payer in HK just got back about $3000US in rebates, and the government is even going to put $250US toward every household's electricity bills. And they reduced the rate of income tax from a staggering 16% (that’s flat) to 15%. So It makes the whole mic thing suck a lot less.

Bayview contacted me this morning so marks to them - are they watching this forum I wonder! Thank to everyone for their input.

I've purchased from Bayview a few times over the years. Sometimes they were fast and sometimes not. I don't recall having any real trouble with their service.

I rather like the freebie Cascade mic they sent me too. Sure, it is just another cheap mic but it has delivered a few decent tracks for me.
