I will take anything that says Mesa across the front of it, good, bad or ugly:D

Before you say something like that, you really need to play an old tweed Bassman (not the reissue!) or an old 18-watt Marshall or something to hear what good power tube distortion sound like! Unless, of course, you play metal or something.

I've always loved the look of a Fender twin (or super, deluxe, etc.), especially when stacked on a Fender speaker cab. I had exactly that set-up for some years. But for pure snaz, I'd have to agree with Zaphod about those old Kustom amps. Man, when Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels hit the stage with those Kustoms, I went nuts--of course, I was only ten at the time, but what a look that was--nothing like that thick padding.

There are some beautiful amps shown here... but don't forget about these... beautifully ugly!!

These are my favorite recording amps. They are both class A. The Laney is a Lionheart L20H on a closed back cab with 2 25 watt greenbacks. The Marshall is a 1974X with a 20 watt greenback.

Another update - I'm (obviously) a little biased since I happen to own this one, but my Mesa Roadster head with a custom black diamondplate face plate I bought off an endorser buddy:

Not my picture (my buddy took this before he sold it to me) but while I'm not normally big on the black-on-black look, this is just a very serious looking, subtly attractive amp that happens to also sound amazing. :D
