I actually even did not know he had transformers.
I could not find any info on that, except it is 8:1, which anyway is still a little too high.

I looked with no luck. Any chance you could provide a link? Before that is this a home DIY project? Drilling a back plate is one thing but re-machineing is another.

I spent some time and could not find it either. It was quite a while ago, so it even might be on previous tech-talk and (all files are lost from there), or it also might be lost during the groupdiy site crash a couple years ago.

I don't think it is quite a DIY project as it involves precision drilling on a chucked rotary table, lapping, and sand blasting.

So I tried simply holding the 603 Omni capsule in place on the headless 310 -- it does pick up sound! -- it also picks up a lot of EM hum, presumably due to the lack of shielding from my fingers, as opposed to the steel sleeve it needs. Alas, the two housings are different diameters, and I'm not sure what I'd need to do (short of machining) to get the smaller MXL capsule to fit snugly. I'm thinking that actual surgery on the capsules is beyond me. Something to ponder.

Just be careful not to lift traces on PCB--on mine one of them was damged already straight from factory.

Ouch. Well, if all else fails, circuit writer pens are your friend. Been there, rebuild traces with that. Not on mics, mind you, but still....

If you want to convert it into omni-only really badly send both capsules my way, just pay shipping. You know the address .

If you do it yourself make sure you measure the capsule capacitance (should be around 36pf), and then tighten the collar to get the same figure.

Yep, or if you don't have the pen and need a fast band aid, solder to a nearest soldering spot a jumper formed into the trace shape.

Indeed, that's also pretty much what I usually do with the pen just to get a really solid, low resistance connection.

Oops. My bad. Now the lack of bass sensitivity makes a lot more sense. I've noticed a bunch of Chinese cardioid SDC mics seem to have that problem.

My main problem with the mic was a serious lack of bass, so at first I blamed it on a tiny-tiny stock transformer--the reason I changed it. Things improved, but not by much. After that I tried it with Oktava 012 capsule with special adapter--the bass was immediately there, which points out there is something going on with the stock capsule itself.

Did you custom machine this adapter? I was thinking about making some for mine so I can use standard 22mm capsule heads, but on both microphones, I keep coming up with an almost impossibly dense thread pitch somewhere around half a millimeter or 1/64th of an inch. Is that right? Where can you get dies that big with a thread pitch that fine?

Indeed, you cannot find dies for threads for mic capsules. I machine those threads on my lathe.
To understand how it is done just google for "lathe threading".

As a side note, my current microphone system includes microphone bodies with set of adapters I turned on my lathe for Gefell MK202/221, Gefell M94, B&K 4133, AKG CK61/62, and SP4 capsules.

Well, yes we spoke and he gave me T14 dimensions over the phone. He however never reply two my emails where I asked for pictures and sizes for BV12R, BV314, and T14/1. I will wait a couple more days and then have no choice but start looking for other options.

I am hoping to have the specs soon for the pre amps. I have a very busy next 2 weeks in the studio. (10 to 12 hour days/nights) Anyone know a good source for QUICK turnaround CD duplication? 300 to 500 copies needed. CD's only. no case, printing, or shrinkwrap.

It is 0.45 mm. The closest imperial would be 56TPI.
