Wtf is a PRS
Ok this may or may not fit in this section but I'm sure if its the wrong place im sure someone will slap me on the wrist and move it.
But.
Currently i have laid low on recording cause my last few go rounds really got me down. I enjoy it. I get great satisfaction from doing it. More the mixing and messing around aspect of things. But what i really would like to change is my get up.
As it is now i have a Roland VS880EX that i use to record drums and some vocals and whatever else. I just find it more reliable then my laptop (which I'M running Sonar4 on plus a myriad of other software) With The VS880EX there is not audio dropouts, crashes, nasty clipping disk errors and all that garbage. For this reason i love it to death and have been VERY reluctant to get rid of it.
Why do i want to get rid of it? Becasue getting the stuff off the VS880EX to my laptop to mix and mess around with is a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS! I,ve tried countless methods to get from said Roland unit to laptop, and short of re-recording everything track by single stupid track, i haven't found a decent way yet. AND, i cant find the CD burner i need for it. cause that would just be way to easy.
NOTE: not saying I'm genius, i'm sure there is a very simple way to get them off.... i just haven't found it. nor has anyone else i've asked!
So I've started looking into things similar to the VS880EX in reliability, portability, ease of use etc...
BUT!
can i easily pluck the tracks from the unit via USB, flash, SD cards whatever, so i can plunk the wavs into my DAW of choice.
I have looked at some of the BOSS stuff and it looks great but id like to know right from other users mouths (fingers in this forums case) if such a heavenly piece of hardware exists; and do the users of said hardware like what they have?
Can anyone out there point me in the right direction ?
Im not overly fussy. Ideally id like to have the ability to simultaneously record 8 tracks at once. Money is of course a factor, i'm sure other things come to mind but i just need to back on the recording train.
