Hello...

Sorry to bother you, but I wanna be sure..:o

I'm thinking about using a Mesa V-twin preamp (pedal) as a DI-box on gigs, straight to PA if possible.
Anyone of you happen to know if that's possible??

From the "to power amp"...

I've asked friends and e-mailed local retailer, but don't trust them friends and odds are the local dealer couldn't give a rats ass, about a product discontinued...

Hey Jouni, I'd be a little leery and keep your primary amp on reserve while gigging....

As I recently found out, getting good sounds out of a "pre-amp" can be more tricky that I first thought (Sansamp GT2 into Mackie 808M).

My $.02.

Thanks for the .02 for both of you!!

Yes.. Dunno why I stayed clear from the "most obvious" Sans Amp DI...

I tried the future PB (pedalboard) to the poweramp of my rig today, not bad at all, punchy...
Oddly, not as bottomy as the amps own preamp OR the V-twin straight to a tracker????... But good enough.

Yes, I'm going to keep my amp too.:D
What I'm REALLY looking for is a PB, that sounds OK as a preamp in my rig, direct to tape AND direct to PA...
Asking a lot I know... But a PB that'd give you YOUR (tube) sound whatever you plug it into would be worth the search!:o

Now I'm happy with the sound on my rig and to tape, a PA is to be seen yet, that's why I'd really like to know for sure the voltage levels and so on mach to a PA.. So no surprises arise, next gig 5.March, trying to haul my rig there though..

:confused:Did I make any sense?

ALSO... I want to experimet with tubes on the V-twin, its got some 12ax7 in it now, any suggestions???

the vtwin was pretty much the first stomp box that opened the flood gates to a whole stream of other models of similar spec based on the same tube set.

...i would have expected the vtwin to be just fine as it comes and any tone issues to be sorted out at the eq stage of the pa.

the problem is that u have very little control over the sound ...i would also use something like a seven band eq box and a delay/reverb as well....i wouldnt like to leave all that to the pa at all.

so hopefully the pa could give u ok foldback so that u would basically be turning up with a very light setup.

that vtwin is a pro box ...it should do the job....with stock tubes.

you already own that unit anyway...whats the problem with giving it a go?????

Thanks for the reply, Yes, I'm using a BBE sonic stomp after it and planning on gettaing a Boss GEB7 for further adjustment, playing intermittently-fast metal, reverb and delay are out of reach, clear and precise as possible, bigMuff for occasional extended notes. (and some serious thunder, from an 18" black widow, I might add):D

Yes, I will give it a shot...

as a matter of fact I think it has an XLR out for just that purpose.;)
