I'm not sure if you need a specific one, but from what I've learnt different ones work better than others... Have you searched your soundcard?

Tony, I don't have one of thse but I spent a few minutes reading the manual so I have an idea what you are using.

You have several options for hooking things up. The Mpc has stereo digital and analog main outputs, plus 8 individual outputs and MIDI. You didn't say what kind of computer or sound card you have so I'm assuming you have an average PC with onboard sound.

If this is the case the sound card is usable but will be your bigest limitation. If you want to record audio from the Mpc, you can only get up to two sounds seperately at any one time. You would probably need an adapter to convert two 1/4" mono outputs on the Mpc to one 1/8" stereo input. So you could build your beats this way. If your computer has a MIDI interface (most newer ones don't) you might be better off recording MIDI into the computer and tweaking your beats then rendering them through the Mpc.

If you want to record multiple seperate sounds, you will need a audio interface with as many inputs. Something like this
