stereo bar for acc guitar?

I've decided to pick up a pair of naiants. To make my life easier, I'd like to use a stereo bar for acc guitar instead of two mic stands. Are there any serious limitations to this?

There are many stereo bars out there with different design features, so it's hard to answer your question without knowing which bar(s) you are considering. In general, the biggest limitation will be how far apart you can place the mics for a spaced pair. For coincident and near-coincident positions, a stereo bar can be quite useful. Keep in mind that if you're getting omni mics, you may not get a wide stereo image when using them in xy or other close configurations.

I was thinking this one. Looks like I'd also need a couple mic clips with that, too, right? How far apart would I want my omnis?

MF probably has the least expensive but a critical convenience component is the yoke screw assembly (but easily modified with common hardware). You want to be able to stop any rotating/flipping motion without cussin'.

I agree with that but if you don't use a coincident pair pay attention to phase cancellation issues. This may not bother you if you're indeed after a wide stereo image and are not too fussed about mono compatibility (radio plays). After much trial and error (mostly error) I ended up using X/Y exclusively and (if I felt it needed it) widening the stereo image with some mid-side processing in my DAW.

I picked up a stereo bar at Guitar Center for 8.99 not too long ago. It was up at the front with the mic clips and such.
