Way too smooth.....good tune, great lyrics, great performance....only nit I have is the drum machine.....and I would kill to have that voice....great job man!!!:D

Very good bass playing by mike.
He's a bit undefined in the 1st verse though - might be my headphones though.
In the solo & the lick over the bridge your quieter or bassier notes seem to dissolve - maybe a little compression?
Ido - HOW DO YOU DO IT SSSSOOOOOOOOOO CONSISTENTLY?

Hi Everyone - here's a newer mix of Everything I Am with mjhamil on bass. Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

This is a song dedicated to those people in our lives who help make us what we are today.

As I have said before ido1957, I love your song writing skills, the way the whole tune always melds the verses, chorus and solo's etc together so well. The drum machine as mentioned earlier is the only link in your tunes that is the weak link. Your tunes would benefit so much with some live drums or drums with a few fills etc. I know what it is like because that is the weakest link in my own compositions. :(
The solo in this tune seems to not particulary tell another part of the story that "ALL" your other solo's do. Just a minor nit pick compared to your past solo's which are always well constructed.

Thanx again for sharing Gerry! :)

jpw23 - thanks for the kind words. Live drums would be cool....
rayc - appreciate the listen and comments. I don't know where these come from but I have good inspiration. ;) I'll look into the solo and the bass as mentioned.
gorty - Thanks! I have an older version that has a few more licks in the solo but this one has the better bass so I've kept this one.

That's great Gerry, your mixes are sounding real good and clear.
Great feel to the tune too, the vocals really carry it and the guitar tones are nice.
Dig it

Dude, this is a nice slow melody. You do this consistently as RayC said.

I like the tune and the melody. The bass is something that I would recommend maybe EQ'ing up around 470-650Hz. Also one other thing was maybe longer solos. You do solo well and meaningful. Enjoying hummin along the solos as well in your songs. Was just listening to most of your tunes I've burnt on CD for the car. And those blended so well with the rest of the list. :)

Snakedog - thanks for listening and the kind words...
bigbubba - thanks for the positive feedback. I'll fiddle with the bass as recommended to see what I can do to bring it out a bit more. I'm going to try and work out a song with more solos soon so keep an eye out!

I'm convinced, you can even use the comments here to write a pretty decent song. :) Then you can solo all over that. :)

I think the production suits the genre you seem to be going for quite well. But yes, that drum machine has to go! :) And I love drum machines, just not here. I think what bothers me are the robotic hi-hats, as the kick drum and snare seem to be the right drum sounds for this tune. Maybe make friends with a drummer and steal his hi-hats to overdub on this track...?

:) Oh, and it seems needless to say, but the song is pretty cool. Makes me want to hear it on an AM radio in the back of a pickup truck on a summer night.

Very nice Gerry. I like the harmonies.

I can only echo what the others have said about the drums. I dont mind fake drums as a rule, just not these.:D They arent horrible though and I am glad you are mixing it up with some fills. Is this your Yamaha keyboard doing the drums?

Mike does a nice job on bass, very tasteful.:) What seperates this from some of your others is the harmonies. They are subtle but it's a very noticable difference when you add them, it takes it from "two guys in living room" to "produced song". Very nice, me likey.:)

Sounds pretty good. The drums have been beaten to death, so I won't comment on them. :p

I guess my only nit would be that the little guitar licks and lead use a tone that's too similar to the rhythm. I think the bass could use a touch more definition too - or maybe just brought up a little. Other than that, sounds good. :)

Mistur Purfekt, DavidK, Greg_L....thanks for listening guys! Glad you liked the tune in general :). My drummer friend and I have been out of touch lately. Perhaps we will link up sometime and I will put some of his drum tracks down on a bunch of these tunes. For now it will have to be my trusty mouse/cut and paste/midi drum tracks... Edit - I think these drum tracks were hand written and played through the Yamaha. I don't think they started out as a drum patch from the keyboard though...

+++++ on the lead gtr sound, main vocal and harmonies, bass. You sing really well in tune:):):), and I'm not hearing any autotune.

Get a real drummer on it and I'm first in line to buy the CD.

Good guitar tone and good vocals.

Not my type of tune(cup-o-tea) but it sounds good to me:D

Sounds pretty good Gerry...nice and smooth. Really like the playing...keeps things interesting.

Nice man...

This tune just keeps getting more polished...

I have to agree that the vocal performance is very well done...nice job recording that as well...Although I love inappropriately long jams and stuff, I'd have to say the length of this guitar solo (while short) is just right for this kind of song. It seems like on these pop numbers, just when the guitar gets cookin'...its back to the bridge or something.

Personally, I'd like to hear the bass guitar a bit more in relation to the drums, but I am in no position to quibble over such fine points. The arrangement is really very professional sounding throughout.

Wow!

My first time listening and I'm humming it at work! :)

You have an incredible voice!

I was listening on headphones so take this with a grain of salt, but the guitar licks between vocal lines seemed to be a bit more dominant than they should... It seemed that maybe they could be pulled a little back in the mix and compliment the vox instead of the SLIGHT overshadow...
Again, that was after a headphone listen so it might not be an issue at all... I'll try and give a listen on my monitors later...

Great job!

:)

Good guitar tone and good vocals.

Thanks EL34 - I appreciate your comments. It's nice when you get feedback even though it's not the listener's preferred genre.

Nice man...
Thanks Dogman - glad you liked it. I'm trying to add as much as possible with ADAT tracks I have to work with. Little leads, backups, etc....
I must agree with others - the harmonised parts are LOVERRLY.
Thanks Ray - glad you like the harmonies. I spent more time doing harmonies than lead in my early days. I love 'em. A good harmony, like Terry's in After The Burning, can really make a huge difference in the flow of a tune.

Yeah I think the lead on a pop tune is usually limited although I have gone overtime on a tune or two.... I'm thinking about doing a tune with a few solos in it for a break from the usual....

Thanks BentRabbit - Thanks for the kind words...I tried to keep the leads in line with the vocals but not over. I'll have a listen to that...

Thanks All ! :D:):D:)
