Just kicking a few tires here, I have a JCM900 4100. I'm pretty happy with the Marshall sound so I'd like to keep that. What cool new models would replace the JCM900. The model I have has 2 channels and reverb which I'd also like to retain. I have a 4X12 but a combo might be acceptable too as downsizing is something I'm considering. Any suggestions? :)

If you like it why on earth would you want to replace it?

new amp

I was in almost the same situation. I traded up my old JCM 900 combo for a JCM 2000 DSL 50-watt head that I put through a 4 x 12 Mesa cab. People bag the shit out of 900's but I loved mine. Love the JCM 2000 so you could look at something like the DSL or TSL amps. I always fancied a Marshall Bluesbreaker as well. They sound pretty good. You got a lot of choices but whatever you do, plug in and test the shit out it before you buy it as the sound seems to vary a bit.
Mike.

I've got a JCM 900 2500 top and a 1960A bottom that I bought new. I love it and can't imagine selling it.

If you want my $0.02, I'd keep your 4100 and buy a used JCM 900 1x12 combo. That way you've still got that killer JCM 900 tone, but it won't break your back (or your bank account). Save the half stack for your bigger gigs (and to impress the fans) ;)

to kick it up a notch perhaps?

try a Hughes and Kettner MKIII (if you can find one) or an Soldano. YMMV but both are worth trying.
