38-8 channel cards ebay...

Yeah, that and talk about the ol' "Bait and Switch!"

His link says there are 8 channel cards for $20 for sale, but there is actually only one for sale (or at least at a time).

Well Im dont beleive Im trying the old bait and switch. Anyone can see that Im just trying to let people around here know that i have up to 8 channel cards available. I never said click on the link to see a picture of a pony.
2nd Im not sure why there is a complaint about the number 8 and the auction only being for 1 card. It does say that I have 8 cards available in the auction. But I only put 1 auction up hoping to aviod ebay fees and such...

IM gonna quote myself..."8 channel cards for 20.00 each"
Notice the word each at the end.

We are all aware of the problems you've had with the TASCAM 38, which now you're trying to part out and claim as coming from a "100% working machine" in your eBay ad description. Add to this the bad Ampex tape you're selling (as Beck mentioned in another thread) https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=249706 ,and it's not lookin' good. Don't claim ignorance 'cause you know damn well what you're doing.

You've pretty much alienated a bunch of people on this board with your seemingly underhanded tactics.:rolleyes:

Do you mean the cards that work 100%? There was never any problem with the cards. Just the motors? Which you noticed I havent sold? I decided to part out the machine because of this. If I were such an ass I would have sold the machine as is to someone on ebay and let them deal with it. But I dont do that.
And yes I am going to try and sell every part I can off of it that worked. Id be an idiot not to.
And the Ampex tape...well big deal. Do you notice that I only want 10-20 bucks for it. Not 40-50. Maybe Im a little high for a takeup reel that has some tap on it. BFD!

How do you know the cards work 100% when you had numerous problems with your 38? Just the motors? Try also the "cracked Control PCB ASSY" and several other things, by your own very words. That machine you received was either smashed in transit or someone took a hammer to it. Either way, it's safe to assume many other possible intrernal damages and I'm wondering, with all of this, how you managed to check that the cards, if in fact they were not also damaged, were functional? None of this is even hinted at in your ebay description but rather that it came from a "100% working machine"!?!? Are you nuts?? What about that "crap" tape you mentioned in your previous posts, the Ampex that you're now selling and didn't even warn the potential buyer it may be sticky?? You're convinced that if you don't say shit about it, that the price of $20 is good for an empty take up reel?? What a bunch of bull... Have you thought of the person (your potential buyer) who knows not better and mounts the tape on his recorder only to find it craps all over his machine? Don't try to turn it around by blaming me. You stick out like a sore thumb around here and have so since you first came on board and your most recent posts aren't helping either. This is even more disturbing since you're a regular here, know better and are trying to put one over on us and on some unsuspecting soul who buys your stuff. If you don't see the error of your ways then goodbye indeed.:rolleyes:

Your thinking is completely wrong-headed. It doesn't matter if you were giving it away for free. This tape has the potential to make some newbie's life miserable and you know it. Plus, if someone starts bidding, you don’t know where the price will end.

The ultimate cost of sticky-shed in time, trouble and damage has nothing to do with what a person initially pays for a defective tape. There are more people that don’t know about sticky-shed than those that do. You can’t expect most buyers to bid on the reel alone.

We aren’t here to give you free consulting just so you can turn around and shaft people that are unaware. The whole point is for you to pass on what you have learned to help others. The 20 bucks or whatever you gain will not be worth it if you want to be on good terms with the analog recording community.

I’m not suggesting you do any less than I would do, and have done. In early 2005 I tossed several rolls of sticky ½” 456. This was right in the heat of the tape scare when these tapes were going for $100 each in any condition.

So, please be nice and think of the potential buyer going through the trouble you went through. Change the listing as specifically being a spare reel and be done with it.
 
You still havent made a valid point aboutmy 38-8. I beleive the machine that i posted questions about here that looked like it had a hammer taken to it was my Tascam 22-2. The one I sent back for a refund from UPS. Not this 38-8. And Yes this 38-8 had a cracked pcb assy or whatever the part is called (the big pcb on the upper back of the machine) but I bought 1 from a guy on ebay (behind ebay's scenes) and replaced it myself. It even required 5-7 solder connections that I had to take off and rdo on the new part.
You are also imaginging that my 38-8 didnt work. Where did I ever say that it doesnt record or play. I said that id didnt FF or RR properly. That it was slow. It played and recorded fine. There was nothing wrong with the machine EXCEPT the motors. Which is why I am parting it out. The channel cards work 100% they had nothing to do withthe motors.
Go back and look at my posts...and you'll see that there was never anything wrong with that machine except the motors. I dont have to tell someone buying the cards that the motors were bad do I?

Why are we arguing about this when the original argument was that I was baiting and switching on 8 channel cards for 20 bucks???
I guess when youre proven wrong on 1 thing you just move on to the next gripe...

To quote your eBay page:
"These cards were pulled from a 100% working machine."

Obviously, it is not a 100% working machine if it doesn't "FF or RR properly."

I just think this is in poor taste.

And if you're going to sell sticky tape, at least say it's no good, and that only the reels are worth anything.

CJ again there you go spouting incorrect info. There is NOTHING wrong with my 38-8 EXcept the motors. Boy I wonder how i was able to record 2 songs with a machine that doesnt work at all. I dont have nything else to add. Except that my Ebay record speaks for itself.
You guys should make CJ a moderator. He already acts like one...

....you're not doing yourself any favors by trying to spin this - just be open and honest and fair and square, and you shouldn't have any problems with your words coming back to bite you in the butt....

....but for the record, I'm glad that I know where your ethics lie....and am glad that I've never been in the market for anything that you've listed, or had business dealings with you in the past - and surely won't in the future....

The ebay record only shows that nobody that might have gotten burned knew enough to indicate that in feedback at the time it was given...

OK, so the machine did work until the motors stuffed up......fine....... BUT that doesn't mean that it was working at the time you decided to part it out. It's fine(ish) line but you are on the wrong side of it the way you are going.

Interesting to note you've made no effort to comment on the sticky shed potential of the Ampex you're selling.
