Ive been recording for 3-4 years now(getting some very good results for someone who does everything a different way than the norm)

I recently just bought a Behringer Eurorack UBB1002 10 channel mixer.
and right now to hook it up to the mic line of my computer I run a cable to the moniter output because from the phones output, of course its too overdriven and with the moniter output it is aswell. it has 2 MAIN outputs(left and right, of course) but currently I don't have the adapter/'splitter' needed to make both of those left and right outputs go into one mic input for the computer. The computers line output either won't work or won't pick up the mixer in ANY output I put the cable in.

What I'm asking is, what are the best scenarios I can run to hook this mixer up to my computer?
It's not USB-driven.

A) NEVER use the mic input. Use the line input.
B) NEVER use the stock soundcard. It's made with less than $1 worth of chips for beeps, boops and light gaming.

The best scenario is to get a "REAL" audio interface to replace the current sound card.

I have a cheap home studio interface that came with some Mackie software thats just horrible but in the works Ill probably get an 8 channel firepod interface and either use the Cubase it comes with or Pro Tools.
Im starting school for recording in 2 months, my dads a sound engineer.

Presonus interfaces do not work with Pro Tools just so you know...also Cubase LE that comes with the interface only supports 4 simultaneous inputs.

Don't worry about it. It'll get forth the message that protools are shit. We'll they're great, but once you're in, it's hard to get out. You have to only buy their gear, or it won't work!!

Anything you have to pay for really, imo. Sonar, Cubase, Ableton, Logic, etc. However, i doubt LE is only limited to 4 tracks, especially after reading this. Why would a company choose a software that didn't allow you to use the product to it's full potential?
