ok....here's my stab at it. only spent about an hour on it last night......in many respects, just pull up the faders and you've got a great starting point.

really enjoyed the song--it's a nice change to hear this sort of heavy music with "real" vocals (although i'm not real sure about the lyrics :p). didn't do a whole lot to it except nuke a few things with compressors. that's one of the best things about this style of music--it lends itself nicely to being nuked. :D

good guitar tones, kick drum was a little anemic (way more click than i prefer), well tracked guitar doubles--i'd say this band was pretty well polished. i too would love to hear a screaming guitar solo over one of the chugga chugga parts, but it really doesn't need it.

i'll probably play with this tune a lot over the next few months just out of fun. thanks for posting this!

I may have missed this earlier on but are the judges going to make any comments on our mixes or just choose a winner?

I did not plan on commenting on every mix. But after judging I could if you want.

I will say as a general statement. Some people took care of the ringing (what sounds like a) floor tom going in to the breaks buy trimming it up or gating.
Some people did not.

It makes a destinct difference in how tight the song sounds and provides greater impact at the end of the break.

I personally like to do quick fades, not just straight cuts. Actually I do a cutt and pull back a fast fade from that.
A high pass on that drum could have done alot too seeings how the ring is rather low.
