I plan to build a studio in my currently unfinished basement, and will soon frame it out with 2x4 studs. Eventually I would like a finished product with drywall, but I have to hold back on that for now due to lack of time and money. However, i need a fairly decent and fairly cheap setup now to be used to practice music and do some recording in. For now my biggest focus is room deadening for a decent space to record guitars and drums. Soundproofing is not as big of a deal for now; the house is well isolated from other houses and any loud noises we create are not a big deal to anybody.

I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what i can do after framing out the room to temporarily create a space cheap but decent for recording, keeping room acoustics and not soundproofing in mind, before i complete the project later on with drywall and such.

Also, if i should go with fiberglass insulation between the studs or pay more for the cotton fiber insulation, and how much better the stuff is.

Thanks.

Maybe try building some of these that can be moved around and positioned as you like? When you get your drywall in you could remove the stands and wall mount the absorbers.

Wow, those are great! That's along the lines of what I need...jumped from the building gobos thread into here...Too bad the current budget doesn't allow for it right at this moment, might be stuck with the office dividers for now!
