What Pro Tools *****?
We've been working on this the past few weeks and I think it turned out decent.

Recorded in Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 with an Mbox 2.

What do you think!?

Any tips or ideas? I'd LOVE to hear them.

Thanks in advance for listening!

Loud!!!! This is the loudest mix I have heard on here. I like the song. The background vocals seam to get lost a little. The mix seems nice and full on my speakers and the bass sits in there nicely. The song as a whole is pretty trebly on my speakers though.

Loud as in it is clipping loud? Or, is it just loud? Good loud? Bad loud? I mastered it to 0db with a Mastering Limiter. :)

I tried to make the background vocals very very subtle. Maybe I made them too subtle. :P

Trebly? Is it that damn cymbal in the verses?? Or just in general?

Thanks for the input!

For me, the snare could come up a bit. Also, I'd either bring the guitar up a bit in the verses or bring the voice down a touch - the mix between these two seems off a little. The intro is nice and raunchy. Great song. Like the singer's voice.

Thanks. I kind of struggled with the balance of guitars and vocals on the verses. Your comments make it more obvious to me that I need to bring one up or the other down. Thanks!!!!!

It's a nice song -- good vocal delivery.

The guitars during the main riff (intro and chorus) seem too chorused, in my opinion. I don't know if you used a chorus or just double-tracked and detuned slightly, but it's really wide and a little sickening to me. Again, that's just me. This is most noticeable to me in the intro when the band first comes in.

Nice full bass tone.

I agree that the snare may be a little low, but the bigger problem to me is that the drumbeat doesn't seem to suit the song very well. The busy snare with all the ghost notes seems out of place to me. Of course, I realize you're asking for comments about the mix, so ... anyway.

Other than, it's a nice full sound. Good job :)

not bad loud just a loud mix. I guess since its mastered thats why.
the background vocals re subtle so then you got what you want there. I have good speakers but they are not studio monitors so I can only give you my 2 cents on the overall sound but mainly the symbol, but even the rest of the song as a whole just sounds like there is a spike in the high end. like I said before though. I like the song.

Thanks for the input again. I'm gonna take all of this feedback and work on it some more.

Keep the feedback coming and thanks!

i love the sound. really different and some unique changes. One thing i would change is maybe taking a little boomyness out of the bass (like 300 hrtz) and a slight drop in the 3.6k range overall. like 1.5 db with a 5 q. 3.6 is really irritating to the ears and im hearing a little much of it in this mix (but not too bad). good job!!

Maybe both, but definitely that damn cymbal.:D

I listened to this last night on headphones. I was going to comment on how trebly it was, but thought I would hear it on monitors and overall it is fine. In fact, the bass indeed might need to be tamed. However, that cymbal is sticking out quite a bit.

Its a good song and a good production. Yeah, my only nit would be "That Damn Cymbal.":p Either lower the volume, cut the high end, pan it way left or just cut it.

David, thanks for the insight. I feel bad after our run in in the Pro Tools thread. :)

Can we be friends? :D

No worries. Well, it depends on what you mean by friends. If you mean "special friends", umm, we'll have to take that to the Cave.:D

Your mix is clipping a bit. Did anyone mention that damn cymbal?
