Cool song, reminds me of the Undertones for some reason. The mix is seems well balanced on these headphones. The only thing that strikes me is that everything is coming pretty much down the middle. You could maybe double track some of the guitars and pan them a bit to get more of a stereo thing going

cheers

its a very basic song the lead guitar is panned half to the right and at the end i was messing about with the panning switching between hard left and right and finishing it in the center, other than that the harmony is panned one hard left and one hard right and thats only about 5 words the rest of the vocals i tried panning them but they were just too far apart, i did'nt like it so i left them center, i'll try putting the same guitar track on it and panning them, it could be retracked(the whole song should be retracked) but i never took the song seriously so i cant see myself going back to retrack it, i'll just start another song, its the same for the lyrics i just wrote a verse and chorus and repeted them i was too lazy to write more

It's hard to really get an idea of what's going with everything crammed in the middle. Lots of frequency fighting going on. Sounds like a pretty cool song. You should fix it up.

It's a cool song, the first thing that came to mind was the song 'love in the trash can' by the Ravonettes, I have no clue why now that i played it but that was my firs thought. You shouldn't abandon it in my opinion.

nice one,

what do you mean by "Lots of frequency fighting going on"

if i were to pan guitars and vocals would'nt they still be fighting for the same frequency, or would i have to mess about with eq to fix it.

You can create space for certain instruments in the stereo field by panning them. Just getting the guitars out of the middle will do wonders for the overall sound of pretty much any song. If it's just one guitar track, just shift it slightly off-center and hang some reverb on it.

Sounds pretty cool sir. I'd try to get some "wool" on the bass and push it up a bit. I likes it.

EQ is still pretty important, but it's easier when you don't have everything in the same space.

dont get me wrong i know what you mean eq is very important ive read a bunch of stuff in the last year i have forgotten half of it and there is so much other stuff to learn like this time last year i did'nt even know how to use a computer, i was just making a joke bout havin so much to read which i will be doing anyway :) theory is great but you cant beat pratice :)

nice one bout spacing the guitar off center a little, would never hav done that

a while back my head was wrecked for weeks trying to eq a bass, i just could not get it to sound right in the mix so i took SSG's and others advice to retracked it with the sound i wanted, so much easier and thats what i do now i dont go near the eq unless its absolutely necessary like a roll off, if you remember back to the last song i did how the guitars were way too harsh and loud that was from over indulging eq and not havin a clue what i was doing but its all a learning curve

its gettin better all the time (i hope :D)

Yeah I used to EQ everything a lot, but I'm getting away from it and focusing more on really getting the sound I want recorded raw.

i put a second guitar on this

let me know if ye think its any better

Man, I'm listening on headphones right now, but I don't really hear much difference. Everything still sounds pretty much in the middle.

Try splitting the 2 rhythm tracks. One all the way to each side. And get the vocal choruses away from the main vocal. Split them off center and drop em down some. Also, how are drums recorded? Natural drum and cymbal panning lend a lot to the open-ness of the song too.
