I'm in the mood of buying a new computer, one that has more ram and a faster processor. Then I started to look in the direction of buying a laptop as to where they are the same price range of a desktop. I heard of the toshiba brand is a little bit more stable than that of the dell. Would it be good to get a laptop or stick with the desktop?

For the same price, a desktop will always be superior in performance, but it is not as portable. If portability is not an issue (or you have no problem tranporting desktops, like me) then go for the desktop.

well I bought myself a laptop, that has 2gig of memory, and intel dup core 1.86 gig. I'm just having a hard time loading up my sonar 4 software on it, cause the laptop has windows vista installed, but I don't know if I would have to purchase the newest version of the program. Anyone know of a patch for the program.

Have you tried running it in administation mode? I have several programs I had to open in that mode for them to work. Right click on the icon and choose run as administrator. Or right click and choose properties for the icon and try different window modes.

I tried to get the program to install in adminastrator mode, I got all the way through the last next or last window of the installation when right when it was starting I get an error message. The error message is this "c:\\windows\system32\msvcp60.dll could not be opened." Anyone know what this means and how to go around it?

Lose Vista and install XP. You'll be better off that way for the next year or so.

I don't know if my computer came with a XP disk or not. Unless, like I stated before, buy the newer version of sonar. Speaking of sonar, what is the difference in Sonar 6 studio with the Academic version and is there any obstacles in purchasing the academic version from MF?

Only Sonar 6 runs on Vista. That is why I said get rid of Vista and use XP.

The academic license is exactly the same as the retail version except for the discounted price. You have to prove you are a current student at an accredited institution to buy it though.
