Recording Keyboard/Sustain pedal problem

I have a digital piano and I have a sustain pedal connected to it. In Cubase I have a VST piano software running and I am recording on a midi track. When I start recording I enjoy using the sustain pedal and use it quite often and can hear the monitoring output in the moment of recording with sustain. HOWEVER, when I am done recording on the track and playback...there is no sustain! All I hear is staccato and notes without any sustain at all. How can I fix this problem?

Sounds like the sustain pedal is not 'writing' to the MIDI track - do you have 'all channels' selected in your MIDI device options in Cubase?

Not sure I will have to try to find where that is. But I do know when I record and press the sustain pedal up and down I do see the track receiving a signal (I see a black line every time pedal is pressed)
