pro tools 9 choppy audio playback

Using pro tools 7.4 before and this problem never happened but just got pro tools 9 and whenever i arm the tracks in pro tools 9 and turn the mix knob to the right on my fast track pro i get choppy and cracking audio . I have did all the computer optimazations, tried new cords and changed the buffer sizes in pro tools but nothing is working, I have also installed all the drivers anf new updates for pt 9 and fast track pro

I am using new pro tools 9 on windows 7,fast track pro connected through usb port and guitar connected with 1/4 inch cable.

Download the reaper trial and see if you get the same problems. If you so not have the problems, quit using protools and use reaper...

OP, have you trashed preferences? if not, google it.

Do you get the same choppy audio if you play itunes/media player through your fast track?

Do you get the same choppy audio if you use protools with your built in audio?
