Noise Interference

Every time i turn up the gain on my mic/line inputs i keep hearing this squeaky interfering noise like somebody is fast forwarding a cassette or someting. Im using a condenser and a sm58 through an emu 1616 soundcard and a behringer mixer going into the back of the soundcard which is hosting my room mic. How do i eliminate this noise? HELP!

Why are you using the soundcard in your PC (that the room mic and mixed output are going to)?

Plug all mics into the EMU, then USB out from that to your computer. No need for the mixer, either, obviously.

The Emu has two mic inputs and he wants to record three mics at once, so the mixer is just being used as a preamp.

Use the mixer INTO the EMU, USB to computer.
