MIDI track output problem

So I bought a USB to midi cable to record my electronic drums in Pro Tools.

I managed to track something and get some input but can't set the output to my built-in speakers so I can hear the playback of the track.
This is how the output bit looks when I try and set it to my speakers but it doesn't give me the option.



I don't have a MIDI port on my audio interface so I plug the USB straight into the back of my mac

Any help would be much appreciated!

Midi is a control signal, not audio. You need to have a VSTi - a virtual instrument - loaded into the track that will be driven by those recorded MIDI signals.

Oh yeah of course! How do I load one into the track? Not sure if there any drum ones on pro-tools is there?

Sorry, I don't know Pro Tools, but you probably need to buy one if you don't have one, like Addictive Drums, EZ Drummer, etc.
