Recording to an external drive?

Hi folks!

Got a Glyph GPT50 to record to.

I use Cubase and Ableton, and I'm wondering how I actually record to the external drive (which I'm running through FireWire btw).

Is it just a matter of saving the project to the Glyph, opening it from there and then everything will write to that? Or is there some sort of secret "record to external drive" button within either of the DAWs I use that no one has told me about???

Well there´s no secret ... Your DAW will ask you where to save your project and you just chose a destination on the external HD.

Yeah.

When you plug the external drive into your computer it will be assigned a Drive letter--on my DAW it's F: because C: and D: are internal hard drives and E: is my CD/DVD burner. However, that'll vary from computer to computer.

Then, in Ableton, assuming it's like every other DAW I've used, there'll be a screen when you save that asks you where you want to save. Just specify the drive and folder you want to use.
