    Buffer Size In Digital Performer...

i'm running DP4.6 on a dual gig G4 with 1 gig of ram. i NEVER monitor through plugins because i use external FX boxes only...

so should i just set the buffer size as high as possible (4096)? since i'm not monitoring through plugins, i should not experience any latency no matter what, right? is that how it works (i lost my "getting started guide," so i'm a little in the dark about this).

    thanks for the help!

Do you ever monitor at all? If you use an external mixer for your monitoring (i.e. if you don't ever have record play-through turned on), then latency shouldn't be much of an issue. If you do, turn the buffer size down....

oh...i was under the impression that only monitoring through plugins will result in latency if your buffer is too high. thanks.

I use 512 when tracking, or lower if using softsynths. Mixing I use 1024 buffer.
