Any card better than Creative's new X-Fi for listening?

Just looking to hook up a computer in the "den" area to watch DVDs on. Looking for good sound card recommendations for this application...
Anything beat Creative's new X-Fi cards for watching DVDs / listening to music on surround speakers?
Thanks,
Jed

kinda like the audigy line cause it was THX certified. the new x-fi's are not. For gaming/dvd/music, I would use it since it's basically the only good sounding consumer sound card. The Turtle beach isn't that good, nor the rest of the cheap sound cards out there.

In terms of value and performance, it is hard to top the Audigy 2ZS barebones:

It has surround sound 7.1, 108 db noise figure, a huge host of sound apps, and a firewire port. I LOVE mine.

Thanks for that info. I've been out of the computer world a while...

What I'm trying to decide now is if I want to get a fancy soundcard for this computer and play music through 5.1-7.1 surround sound computer speakers...

Or if I should get a medium quality soundcard and just run a line out to a home theatre system.
