This isn't about analog information, but it does deal with cassette tapes, so I thought it was a fun read:

Yeah, people never stopped using tape to store data. It's reliable year after year.

One inaccuracy in the cassette information. There was a Philips 45 disc player that fitted in cars and by a very clever, very low mass pickup arm it did NOT skip, at least under reasonable road conditions. With the pot holed. 3rd World tracks we have now I am not so sure! WTF do they DO with our RFL?

Anyhow I fitted a couple of the machines way back in my teens, remarkably good.
