Help: DBX 160 + Fast Track Pro

Ok i just bought a dbx160. Im trying to connect it to my fast track pro. For some reason the sound isnt hitting the dbx. I bought a Y Cable (2TS to single TRS) but its not working. Once I connect the Y cable is there another step I should do?

Probably want to exchange that Y cable for for an insert cable

The diagram below is how an insert cable is wired, check the cable you have is wired like this one.
