My new lust!

Just be aware Henry, you probably won't be able to get a replacement capsule in about 60 years time....
Is that a risk you want to take?

;)

I'd risk it for a biscuit Henry. :)

Nice retro looking mic mate.
Let us know how it performs.
Did you get your Behringer/Midas desk yet?

>Original C414 transformer

WTF? D12s never had transformers to my knowledge, and I can't see how a condenser mic tranny would be the thing anyway?

Thought that was a bit odd myself.
Were there not some d12s with transformers in the metal bass can?
I've never seen one but I've read about it.

Hi Steeno,

Not certain about that. The can or plastic tube should just be an empty chamber to tune the bass response. If it is full of transformer then it can't do that job.

But just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean they didn't happen!

Well ... These guys HERE usually have a good Specifications write up.
But they say the same thing about the tranny Specifications *AKG describes this as the “original C414 transformer."*

My guess is that the tranny runs through the middle of the microphone in an open housing.

If fact I got it right here in my hands. Maybe I'll take a look inside.
I never got around to doing that with it. ;)

Speaking of old kick drum mics, I was cruising GC used last week and spotted a EV 666 for $29.99!!!!
I checked out a few more items and when I went back, it was gone. I can only assume it was one major typo
