I've been offered a 30w Marshall JTM45 head re-issue from the 90s as a staright trade for my TSL 601.

How does that seem to you guys? Let's say for arguments sake that both are in perfect condition. Part of the reason for letting go of the TSL was that it was too loud - by the time I factor in a cab for the JTM, is it going to be any quieter?

Playing a Tele through a Marshall is forbidden where I'm from, so I guess it don't much matter.

I think it would still be bloody loud. I would recommend that you try it out first anyway. Not just for that reason.

I think I'll turn him down. One channel, no FX loop, no reverb...

I don't think it's worth it if you are just trying to minimise volume. Might be worth looking at some hybrid combos.

Have one. Like it alot, but would definetely be replacing tube with tube.
