Would this sound stupid?

Your set-up sounds good to me. IF you have your toms tuned to the pitches you are satisfied with, the ocktava, would work well
with this set-up. In the final analysis, your ears will be the judge.

Alright, I've been thinking about how I'm gonna mic up the drum set with only four inputs, and I think I've settled on this...the only thing I'm worried about are the toms:

Kick: AKG D112
Snare: SM57
Overhead: Oktava MC012

Now, I have one input left...should I go for ONE mic to mic both toms, or will the Oktava pick them up really good to give me a good sound? Help!

You know what...I was just thinking and realized that the Tascam 424MKIII (which I have) has 6 channels for input...I was just thinking of the XLR inputs, which I only have 4 of...but I have 6 1/4" plugs. I could get a few more Audio Technica Mic Impedance Matching Transformers and use them to record on channels 5 and 6...yeah!
