I collect mics, obviously. I like to collect the various Electro Voice models. I also will use a fair number of these day-to-day for work. Favorites are the AKG 535EB, Electro Voice 630, Neumann KM84, Shure KSM9 and KSM141. While I don't own any I have access to Shure Beta 57 and 58s and an Electro Voice RE-20. I like the Shure Betas for a number of things and they look good on TV. Not a big fan of the RE-20 but it's a kick drum mic for me.

I buy and sell, I've had several other ribbon mics including an RCA BK-5, Shure 315 and 330 ribbons and a pair of Cascade Fatheads
(I wish I had kept those). I want a pair of AEA's, someday perhaps. I've had a U-87 and a U47fet. I'd like to get back into the high end Neumanns with a pair of TLM 170s or TLM 193's.

Coolest mics in my collection are the "gold" ones, the restored 556 and of course the RCA 77DX.

Thanks for looking.

Lab

Only 6, and all of them Rode

Matching pair of NT1A. One NT2A. One NT3. One Podcaster. One Lav. But before end of this year, I planing to buy 2 more: one Sennheiser e865 and one Rode s1.

That's quite the collection, Lab. I would have thought myself average having a set of drum mics, couple of choices for overheads, a couple of nice vocal mics and a half dozen 57/58 utility mics. I'm very surprised (and inspired) to see that 20% of the people here are getting the job done with just one or two mics and less than half are using more than 5.

Ooo. This should be fun. I just recently was bitten by the poisonous "Mic Bug" myself so here it goes:

1 AKG D112 - Dynamic - $200 with short boom stand
1 Carvin CM68 (My 20+ year old Shure 58 Clone) - $75 back in '91 or so
3 Carvin M67 (Shure Beta 57 clone) - $200 for mics, cables, and boom stands. I got a deal on this one.
2 MXL 840 - Small Diaphragm Condenser w/ shockmount - $150/pr
1 Rode NT2a - Large Diaphragm Condenser - $400 w/ shockmounts (bought the new metal one w/ pop filter when it came out)
1 Shure SM57 - Dynamic - $100
--------------------------------------------
9 mics / $1,200 or so with stands and extras, all purchased new.
--------------------------------------------

Looks like I need to adjust my vote. I have more mics than I thought I had, yet I'm still lookin' . :thumbs up:

My turn

1. Shure SM7b
2. SE Electronics USB2200a
3. Sennheiser E835
4. Audio Technica AT2005
5. Astatic 910
6. Rode Stereo Video mic
7. Sennheiser MKE400
8. Several no name headworn mics (Omni and cardioid) used with transmitters
10. Two Audio Technica ATR-35S lavalier
11. Zoom H4n
12. Zoom H2n
13. Zoom H1

Most items purchased retail, a couple of Craigslist and eBay bargains in the mix.

2 AKG D9000
1 Shure SM57
1 AKG Perception 220
2 AKG Perception 170
1 MXL R40 Modded by Mike Joly
2 MXL 603S modded by John Bonnell
1 MXL V53M Modded by Mike Joly (Modding in the works as we type)
1 MXL R144

The modded mics beat that pants off of any other mics I own.

You gotta love chick engineers.
Now, how does it look like in terms I understand?
;)

Let me think:
some Sm 57 (now, that one's clever)
Grundig GDSM 200, the pair,
weirdo Phillips stereo condenser thingfish,
Heil PR 30, two of them
Beyer M88
DPA 4099
CAD Equitek E 100
Uher M534
and an assortment of fun little gadgets, like an old telephone handset wired for XLR.
Now I'm trying to come up with good reasons and money for a nice pair of condensers...
