Epiphone Guitars

If It's Korean It's Samick

If it's made in Korea or Indonesia, it's just another Samick-made guitar. ;)

Mmm, not quite. My Epiphone BB King Lucille was made by Aria Guitars in Korea. Source: Gibson's Customer Relations in response to a serial number query of mine. My Lucille has a stamped serial number and a different s/n stencilled in white over the top of it.

Hard to Hear, tell me more about the Dot. I found a lovely sunburst Dot at Sam Ash for $399. And I might get one cheaper at the local Mars....

I'm a strat player looking for his first set-neck, humbucker type guitar, with not a whole lot of cash to spend.

Every Epiphone les paul I've played had a very distinct difference between it and a Gibson, except for one, but it was a modded one so it was kinda a different thing all together.
However, every Epiphone SG I've played - only two however - have been brilliant guitars. Weird.

The Dot is an awesome addition to a Strat. It is the one Epi guitar that I think really has a personality of its own. It looks like a 335, but it plays and sounds like its own guitar. The sound and feel are both great, especially for a very classic rock sound. A plain Dot through a JCM2000 TSL sounds like a million bucks. They are gritty and have great tone and sustain. If you're going for a classic or a british rock kind of sound, I highly recommend the Dot.

Wow - thanks. You know I have been looking at Casinos and Dots, and I can't figure out why Casino's list for $200 more....

love the dot ive got solid black tooo cooool. i had a buddy jamming with me on the weekend a solid srv strat player and he tried out my dot for a set it was awsome to hear him play but also to hear how much he enjoyed playing it. its a great guitar. i use to have a tel squire and so this is a new world of sound for me.

The Casino has P-90's, a spruce top, a trapeze bridge, and nicer neck inlays. Those are the differences, but I agree, not $200 worth of them. I know Musiciansfriend has Casinos for $599, but Guitar Trader sells them for $495. Casino
