Hi.
I have an old reel to reel that I want to use to bounce stereo mixes for tape compression (and dirt). It's an old 7.5 ips Uher deck with two-prong cable. Should I, and is there any value to, replacing this cable with a three-prong grounded cable?
Mine looks like this, but is different...
I have a D112 that I bought "non-functioning" and I'm wondering if (like Shure let's you send mics for repair) there's an obvious path to repairing it. I can solder, but I don't want to disassemble it until I have a working theory of the issue.
Here's the seller's description of the issue...
Okay, so I've read that bands like Led Zeppelin mic'ed drums from afar. I have a stereo clip for two SM57s that I tried last night and this morning on my drum kit. It sounded good, about 12 feet away, but the high hat hits were really loud. I played around with EQ and compression/limiting and...
Thank you for your helpful reply. I am planning a similar integration. The CMC24 has direct outs too in a way, but it's kind of a hack I guess (http://ethanwiner.com/mixer2daw.html -- plugs halfway in).
Would be cool to know how you feel about this decision years later, @steelpetals. Care to update? I ask because I'm in the process of taking delivery on an ATB 16.
I have the Event ASP8s and previously ran unbalanced (TS -> XLR) from M-Audio FW 410. Initially, I hit a ground loop that caused me to look for a cheap solution. I found somebody suggested a resistor soldered at one end. More recently I got a balanced output interface and everything has been...
I have used Linux daily for work since 2008 (not music related). At times, I have tried to use it for music and video things. It just never worked out for me, despite all of my computer skills.
My current philosophy is that computer gear from about 2011 was already more than capable of doing...
First of all, it's been about 10 years since I've posted -- WOW...
I am coming back to my beloved hobby after quite some time. I'm using some space in my basement to do some music/mixing stuff. Not for hire, just for fun. And no "beats", no "synths" and no in the box instruments this time...
Hey all... It's not great, but I made something for the first time in a long time, so I figured I'd share. By the way, I just started using REAPER, and it's amazing for the cost, with all the free VST's and VSTi's floating around.

Hey all...
I've got too much stuff in my house that I meant to repair, but haven't I got around to it.. Besides that, I've got stuff I'm not using anymore that I should be getting rid of (because I'm bank and credit broke)... So, to be honest, this is kind of an impulse post (as the holiday...
Hey guys...
Please listen to the track on my Soundclick called "You Know", and tell me what you think...
I think I'm on to a couple techniques with mixing and mastering that used to just be words on a page... I think it's starting to click for me.. lol
It supposed to be a hard hitting...
Hey, guys...
Just wanted to say that I'm going to working my way back to a working studio, and when I do, I've already lined up my first project: music for a locally produce small-budget racing film... I'm outta practice, but I'm getting that vibe in my bones...
Thought I'd shout out and ask...
Bought this yesterday, as well as the American Gangster Soundtrack...
Really digging 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 14, 16
