    Mixing Questions

I was wondering if anyone had any insight regarding mixing vocals. I eventually want to make my vocals sound like I'm in a room with lots of reverb (i.e. Bruce Sprngsteen's "I'm On Fire"). I'm also a huge Smithereens fan, what techniques do they use when mixing? JTL

I've done a couple tests and it seems like it may be the guitar. I put hands over the strings to see if it would stop the hum and it...

I have a Fostex VF08 and I also just bought Sonar. First off, how do I make my Fostex the master and Sonar the slave? What exactly does that mean. For some reason I tried this with Acid Pro 4.0 and all the tracks were completely out in sync. Why is this? What can I do so I can make sure when I buy Cakewalk, Pro...

    Rock Drum Loops

Does anyone know what Sonic Foundry CDs I can buy or download that have your basic rock drum sounds. It seems pretty hard to find a regular drum beat because Acid Pro is geared more towards the techno and hip-hop crowd. Josh

    Vocal Compression

I have a Fostex VF08 and I am trying to find the best way to record vocals. I bought a new condensor mike and it sounds pretty good but how can I compress my vocals to have the same volume level and tone throughout the whole songs. Like most engineers do in real recordings. Josh Laurie
