How to legally post a "cover" on NWR

I've already gone through this. You're right, this is un-charted ground and it won't be cheap for us small guys. The best thing to do is just do the cover, put it on your own website and link people to it. OMD sites won't knowingly place covers on their sites for obvious legal reasons. MP3.com...

IDEA: Which site will bring you the most plays?

This experiment has been in progress for a few weeks now. The test music is currently only available on 2 music sites. MP3.com and Soundclick.com. I will report the progress in my next update to this thread.

I'm thick headed tonight.....please help me.

Hi TexRoadkill, Obviously I have alot to learn, but the difference in sonic quality is amazing. At less volume levels, the B mix sounds wider, fatter, louder. I'm wondering if my Spirit M12 board is doing somthing weird when alot of sound is going through the board. Because the difference is major.

MP3 examples of songs before and after MASTERING?

I still think one of the best things to do is listen to a commercial cd of a similar style of music, sound, and try like hell to make yours sound similar. eq, levels, etc.

I'm thick headed tonight.....please help me.

Ok, I've got several instrument sources (samplers, sound modules, etc.) Mix A: Basically a live sound coming from all of my sound souces, routed through my digital mixer to the computer. Mix B: Each track recorded to audio and then mixed accordingly using a virtual mixer. Why does mix B sound...

    Cover License? HELP...PLEASE!

Harry Fox FINALLY got a hold of me. There STILL is nothing setup for this yet. (Cover license for downloads.) They said they may have something setup in the near future. So for now, I wouldn't worry about getting sued unless you are making money, selling cd's, licensing out your covers, without...

    Cover License? HELP...PLEASE!

hmm... I had an email from a post in the newsgroups about this subject, and they said the only thing that will happen if the song becomes popular (without a cover license) is you will get a "cease and desist" order to take the file off of the music website. And I'm probably in no danger of...

    To all Musicians

"i forgot. does goodlookin a part of making music vidoes? maybe you submit your pictures first on MTV before submitting your CD." Weird but in r&b, rap, hip hop, it seems looks does not matter, but in the pop world if you have a cute face/fanny and are willing to show some skin "you'll go far...

    To all Musicians

"Of All the undiscovered musicians in the world, how many percent of them(or us) will be heard on MTV or a local radio staion?" Local radio is easy to get into if you sound decent. Well, IF the station is not a clear water station. MTV is also easy to get your videos played. Well, assuming you...

Thanks for the replies, here's some more for you. :) I don't want to make money with my covers, I just want to use them as a way to visit my site and download my original material as well. I don't want to make any money with the covers, by themselves. I would never include them in a cd or sell...

    Mastering - Modern Rock Music

wow, thanks for the replies. However, based on the tools listed it doesn't sound realistic that they would use everyone on a song would it? How about someone listing the steps one of those mastering houses would take to master a rock tune? I'm sure they follow some sort of the same guideline...

    Cover License? HELP...PLEASE!

    Cover License? HELP...PLEASE!

Hi Skippy, Perhaps I'm wrong, but that appears to be used for music services to license digitial compositions so they can play them and have them available on their website. Similar to a radio where they have a license and then pay out a royalty. I need information about a cover license in...
