    Controller / Keyboard

I am trying to decide the best solution for a controller or a keyboard. ( I suppose there is a nested question there ) A little history is necessary, I purchased Sonar 1.x but have not had a lot of time to learn it yet. I will be dedicating more time to it after a few weeks. I will be...

    Well now things get complicated

I am working in a small room. I know I have a problem around 300hz. If this was the space you had to work with would you make the sides live ( ie make them into Helmholz resonators ) or leave them dead? There is about 3" of 703 behind the cloth. Thanks for any feedback. Ryan

    Day Jobs

I am always curious what people do for a living. So my question is this; What do you do for a living? What kind of education have you received? ( formal / informal ) Why are you recording music? Thanks for humoring my curiousity. Ryan

    Changes

After recent advice concerning soffits I have attached a drawing of what I am planning on doing with my room. The worry I have is that the wall units will sit 3 feet back and stick out from the wall creating a reflective surface right behind my monitors. What should I do about this? I would...

    Soffit?

With my room dimensions being limited, would it be a good idea to soofit mount my nearfields? I have a pair of event 20/20 bas. I have posted a drawing of my room. My thoughts are to build the monitors into their own free standing "case" and then screw it into the corners of the room. Good...

    Where is the thread??

A while back I was looking at a post where someone had pushed plywood into the corner of their room. It bowed out creating a rounded corner. Two questions: First: Anyone know where this was or who posted it? Second: What would happen if you cut slots in this and stuffed the inside with...

    Johns Bedroom Setup

I have been thinking about an altered form of Johns room setup. Due to space constraints I am wondering what the effect would be of changing the 3 modules against the walls into one continuous piece. So the sides would be 2' that meet at a devider that cuts the whole thing into 3 sections...

    Almost there

I have attached a file that shows a rough drawing of my room. I have been looking into Johns studio setup ala http://www.locall.aunz.com/~johnsay/ John turned me to that as a solution to my 250 500 hz issue ( I will post the modes in a followup post ) I am about to build the wall units and...

    Ceiling Treatment

The room I am working with has a low ceiling that runs 16' x 6' Because of the height I will be applying 703 pannels. My question is should I cover the whole thing, or should I leave some spaces in between the pannels? Thanks for any help Ryan

    Constricted

I have attached a drawing of the room I have and have been working on. My question is I Will be tracking vocals in the back with the use of gobos, but should I build another set of slats for another to go on the long wall and a 2' one for the space on the left. At this point any advice is much...

    Ideas ?

I appoligize for the length of this post but I am getting to that point in my room construction that I do not want to go back and do anything over. I have a 6' X 16' X 7' room that I have posted the modes etc and John stated that I need to build some Absorbers for certain frequencies. I will...

    Room Tune?

I have built a room with the space that I had available to me. The mode calculations are attached in a text file. I do see some definite trouble spots but am not sure what I should do about them. I will be using the room for vocal tracking/mixing. I am planning on building a bookshelf along...
