    Sound Modules

I think you would get a lot of use out of the P2000 or the XV3080. The p2000 will let you use Flash ram from an E4 Ultra I believe which would be very handy. You may also want to look at getting a sampler and just buying sample libraries for use with it, since some of the sample libraries out...

    views on a piano

When looking at a piano, you should check out several things before you buy. First, take a look at the felt on the hammers. Check to see that it is not worn out, or if it has any deep imprints on it from the strings. Another thing that I hate about some pianos is when you press the una corda...

    MIDI Controllers with 3 wheels?

Hello everyone, Would anyone happen to know of and recommend 88 key weighted controllers out there that have 3 wheels (1 pitch, 2 mod)? I had picked up an Oberheim MC3000, but had to return it after a lengthy battle with a store that was trying to sell me a used and damaged board for a new...

    Oberheim Mc3000 question

Anyone here one an Oberheim MC3000 controller keyboard? I was wondering about something - how is it possible to assign specific midi controllers to one of the three wheels on the board? I found out how to do it to the sliders, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to change anything for...

Video freezing in Cakewalk PA9 or Sonar anyone?

Hi Alchuck, Thanks for responding. I just tried a regular AVI file (one of the ones that ships with Adobe Premiere) and it seems to play fine in Cakewalk (with audio). Although, it won't output to my external monitor as an MJPEG compressed file would understandably, since the DC30pro uses that...

Video freezing in Cakewalk PA9 or Sonar anyone?

Have any of you had problems with video freezing in Cakewalk Sonar or CakewalkPro Audio 9? I'm using a Pinnacle DC30pro on Windows98. If video captured by the DC30pro is imported into Cakewalk or Sonar (with audio tracks). The video will start to play back when you hit play, but stopping the...

Genelec 1030a’s or Mackie H824’s? Which would YOU buy?

Thanks for the input guys. I have demoed both and they both sound good to me. The thing I was concerned about with the mackies is that the room I'll be putting them into is quite small - I am afraid that they might be just too loud. Friends of mine who own the Mackies have also told me that you...

Genelec 1030a’s or Mackie H824’s? Which would YOU buy?

Well, I need nearfield, but these will also need to function as my mains for the time being.

Genelec 1030a’s or Mackie H824’s? Which would YOU buy?

Well, I’m in the market for a pair of new monitors and it has come down to two choices – a pair of Genelec 1030a’s or Mackie HR824’s. Now my question to all you gurus out there: if given a choice between the two, which one would you choose to buy and why? I’m not sure about the Mackie’s given...

CAL scripts for emulating instrument dynamics

Thanks for the link! A lot of CAL files there, but not the type that I was hoping for. I think what I will ultimately end up doing then is writing my own CAL routine for this, and maybe different ones with slightly adjusted parameters to best suit strings, woodwinds and brass. Wish me luck! Ryan.

CAL scripts for emulating instrument dynamics

Are there any useful CAL scripts out there that are good for emulating realistic instrument dynamics? Ideally to be used for crescendos and decrescendos in orchestral music or to even simulate bowing and that sort of thing. I know it can be done, although I don't want to have to program my own...

Any difference between Expanded 880 or new 880EX?

You're welcome, Jacki. :) Yes, as far as I know it should contain all all of the same effects, since when you upgrade the regular vs880 with the V-expanded software, it adds several new FX algorithms as well. For most typical use, I doubt the compression will be extremely noticeable, although...

Any difference between Expanded 880 or new 880EX?

Oops.. Ooops, and yes, as far as I know the FX are the same on both machines and both allow SCSI and MIDI. Ryan. -- Sonic Control www.soniccontrol.com .the on-line interactive community, news and information resource for musicians and composers.

Any difference between Expanded 880 or new 880EX?

Hi Jacki, Hmm. The only differences that I am aware of is the back-lit display, the A/D D/A's and the digital outputs. A regular Vs880 that has been V-Expanded will not have the back-lit display, whereas the VS880 EX will have the back-lit display. I actually used to own a Vs880 myself that I...
