hi.
I am trying to repair a recording made of a live musical show for a theater group I am in, in NYC. It done about a year ago(not by me). It was of a Gilbert and Sullivan show, Pinafore, and included large pit orchestra and solo vocals and chorus. The recording was done digitally to...
wow. after a year of agonizing over what system to upgrade my home recording setup with, I finally settle on getting 'SawStudio' softtware. So, I buy and build a PC, get the soundcard I wanted, get a nice converter and ... voila... IQS goes out of business. No more SawStudio!
Needless to...
Long time no speak...
Can you hook me up with a good price on a nice Lucid, like an 8824? I finally have some bucks to burn, and um gonna get a SAW, this time for real.

I am in the process of selecting a sound card, and buying a PC (I have an old tired MAC 7500 that has seen its days). I am thinking about digi 001, RME Hammerfall, and LynxOne or Two, based one all of your astute recommendations.
My main considerations are:
1) I want to...
What, in your opinion is the best high-end soundcard for PC, and what software runs with it? I leave the precise definition of 'high-end' open to your interpretation.
Hey, I tried asking this on the newbie channel, but no takers yet :D Can anyone tell me how to do playback or recording loops with tape (either reel or casette)?
Does anyone have a feeling about how the mic pres on a stand alone DAW like the Yamaha AW4416 or the VS1800 or VS2400 or a Korg D1600 might stack up to the standard rack mounted mic pres?
For instance, I own a Vintech pre which I paid about $1500 for about a year ago. I like it. I might not...
I am going to get either a stand alone recorder or a new computer recording setup for my home studio. I am definitely going to have faders this time around-- no more mouse mixing for this daddy-o.
Never having used faders, except on my old analog mixer, I don't really understand how this whole...
It seems to me that the miniscule savings offered in most of the deals in audio equipment on Ebay is just too insignificant to bother with. For instance, what is the sense of getting, say, a used digital recorder for $700 on Ebay, when the same item new at SamAsh sells for $800? Certainly there...
OK, nobody on the Analog forum answered this, so I am trying again here. It probably sounds like apples and oranges, but bear with me (and if your a girl, "bare" with me...huh..).
Here it is: would anyone like to comment on the sound quality of a TASCAM 488 (casette deck) vs 16 bit digital...
Here is a curious question. Well, maybe you will find it curious. How would you compare the sound quality of a TASCAM 488 Mk II to 16 bit computer-based digital (say, recorded via an Audiomedia III card onto an old Mac running 16 bit Pro Tools)?
I am sort of in a saving up phase for a good...
I am (with nose prominantly raised to a level even with my forehead, so that you may gaze deeply within my dark, wet, flaring nostrils) a classical/ legit style singer, as are a slew of my friends. No dirty old rock and roll voice for me! But this was not always the case. I actually once...
