Oh man that might be too much effort for this little endeavor. I was hoping to work out my issue using software, to better familiarize myself with editing processes as I am just starting out. I haven't been able to find something online to replace what I have. Not that what I have is special, it...
I'm working on quick, simple recording for my wife's "Holiday" party. (1) Track is of an LP with a fair amount of crackle. At times it's too loud and a bit distracting. How do I go about reducing the volume of the crackle with minimal effect on the rest of the track?
Currently I have it saved...

Yeah no floor toms.
Regarding the drilling of holes, that's why I'm looking at lug mount systems (like RIMS or Optimounts) and the snare stands. My main issue with the lug mount systems is they use rubber grommets which will eventually need to be replaced for one reason or another.
I have an early 60's Slingerland Modern Solo Outfit which has an extremely lousy mount system for the tom toms.
I'm looking to separate the tom toms from themselves as well as the bass drum and I need help. The Pearl ISS makes me nervous (too much movement), while the Optimounts seem to be a...
Found them online as well as in threads with your "shameless" plugs :drunk: but outside of that I haven't looked much into them. I just barely started to scratch the surface of mics and mic placement as most of my energy has been spent on figuring out other parts of my setup. For the price...
I don't play covers, but I would suggest:
Hank III - Straight to Hell disc 1.
If you don't mind the lyric content, this album is very fun. A few tracks don't have percussion, but you could easily come up something to fit. The other tracks have a variety of tempos which can help with your...
Alright, I have been driving myself bat-shiite crazy looking at different Audio interfaces and I am still indecisive. My gut tells me to just go with the inexpensive 1641 and be done with it. The justification I came up with is:
I am brand new to all of this. Until figure things out and gain...
Are you the one that recommends a pair of Naiant X-S mics for overhead mic'ing of drums?
Thanks for the feedback. I like the idea of a compact unit like Grim suggested, but I can see it getting out of hand quickly. Having a bunch of little devices all over the place that is. I'm tight on space...
Thanks for the feedback. What DAW are you using? How many tracks are you recording at once?
Not much of a fan of the electric drums, and I don't expect to hook them up any time soon. If anything I would use them to compliment the acoustic kit.
Thanks for the tip on the MOTU. I started...
No prob mister I have been since the turn of the century.. :P
Acoustic drum kit. Type of music varies from country, hardrock to metal. Mic selection will increase as funds allow, but I definitely want to work up to a 7 or 8 mic setup for the drums. However at least for the foreseeable future I...
