so I recorded the drums... now what?

yeah, but... It's not really practical for me to spend a bit of money. :( It's either this, or a drum machine. I've done the drum machine thing for the past two years, and I'm tired of it.

so I recorded the drums... now what?

All on one track. I guess I should have said that. It sounds good, and has a "live" feel. I guess I want to keep that live energy, but give it a more polished sound. I have a sample online now at: http://www.mythandmotion.com/argus It's the first file. Just a snippet of the song-in-progress.

so I recorded the drums... now what?

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice, because I'm new to this. I have experience in recording guitars and vocals, and doing some processing on those tracks, but this is the first time I've recorded drums. So I have some decent drum recordings, but I want to touch them up a bit...

    Behringer MX802A

I've been using for a while, and I've had no problems with it. Of course, you get what you pay for... but I'm still a beginner, so it has all of the features that I need. It's good for the price.

ZWAN - Loud is not better

I totally agree. I've been a SP fanatic for years, so I'm a big fan of Corgan's songwriting. And Jimmy Chamberlin is the fucking man... and Pajo rocks as well. But the mastering on the album kills it for me. What really bugs me though is that they're actually good songs... there was so much...

    stupid question about compression

ah, expansion. That makes sense. So why is everybody always talking about compression, compression, compression... but expansion is rarely mentioned?

    stupid question about compression

Ok, so I'm a beginner, but I understand what compression is all about. So my question is-- what's the opposite of compression? I mean, if compression can squeeze all of the sound into the top 10 decibels, then is there something that can sort of make the volume range more spread out? I don't...

huge SP guitar sound is great, but how???

I'm still somewhat of a beginner at home recording, but I'm a huge SP fan and I've recorded some Pumpkiny stuff... so maybe I can help. Just the basics-- it helps to pan the tracks so that they're spread out around the listener. Also, you should be using a drummer or at least a drum machine...

    Solo gig coming up 9/14

Re: Thanks Wow, weird... I was listening to a live version of this song while I read your post. The version that I'm listening to is by Papa M (David Pajo) from a concert that I bootlegged in January. I rarely listen to it, and I rarely read posts that mention bluegrass (no offense :p). So...

a few of my songs... opinions/advice wanted!

TripleM... yeah, I know what you mean about the distortion. :) It sounded good when I played it... but when I recorded it and layered a few rhythm guitars on top of eachother, it came out very fuzzy. I kinda like it anyway, but I can see why it would bug some people. I'm using Fruityloops for...

a few of my songs... opinions/advice wanted!

crawdad, I'll say one last thing on the tuning issue... as embarrassing as this is, I don't think I even owned a tuner when I recorded those songs. In fact, I know I didn't. :p Since I record onto my computer, I had some computer program that worked as a tuner... but it wasn't very good. I...

a few of my songs... opinions/advice wanted!

Well thanks for the reply... heh. I realize now that some of my recordings are out of tune. These are all from a few months ago, when my ears weren't as sensitive I guess. But I'm starting to notice it. It doesn't bother me to the point where I have to turn it off though. :) Thanks for the...

a few of my songs... opinions/advice wanted!

I'm sorta hesitant to post this, because I'm still kinda new at this stuff... but here goes. I've been playing guitar for about two years now, and this is what I've been able to come up with so far... it's like an EP I guess. http://www.suicidekiss.org/noah/music/ I'm just a one-man band...

Anybody play a Pacifica guitar made by Yamaha??

I play a Yamaha EG112... I think it's the same thing as the Pacifica 112, but it came out before the "Pacifica" name was used. I love it. It has been my first guitar though, so I don't really have much to compare it too. But it makes a great learner guitar! In about a month, I'm going to...

    Peavey Limited EXP ST?

by the way yes I did try it out at the store, and it sounded nice to me. But since I'm still a beginner, everything sounds good to me! That makes it tough to make a decision.
