Recently I purchased a TASCAM 488 MKII from Ebay. It seemed to work pretty good when I got it until I tried recording on it and I found that the play button would not work. With some research online I found out that this was because the capstan belt had fallen off because it was old and stretched out. I bought a new one and installed it and it worked fine for a while.
Today however, I turned it on to record a new idea I had and I heard a strange noise followed by a TON of feedback on all of the channels. Everything was peaking and there was a loud buzzing and crackling noise coming from my headphones. Is this a problem anyone else has had or am I out of luck?
