I have a 424 MKII that I use to make demos. Just recently it started recording tracks when it is the record ready mode and the play button is depressed, the record button is not used nor is the red record light on. Also, the track indicator is flashing indicating it is in the ready mode. This situation makes it impossible to do punch-ins as you can not hear the track through the tape cue unless you completely turn of the record ready and it records over the track when the record function button is in the record ready mode.
Any ideas as to what might cause this or possible solutions would be much appreciated.
