Cubase beginner, can not open scores

yag

Still Newbie
Hi everybody;

I have a very stupid question...

I'm new to cubase (4 Studio) and I could not figure out how to open the score editor. Everything in the tab "Scores" is grayed out.

Is it possible that I might have missed somethings during installation or I'm just bad at this? = /

thanks..

I'm pretty sure you need to select a midi part first. If you want to create a midi part using the editor, I believe you have to draw a box on the midi track, then you can open the editor. I have an earlier version of cubase, so not quite sure how it works with 4. What does the manual say?

Hope this helps,

In fact the manual does not say much, just gives basic explanations such as:
"Open Selection
This opens the selected part(s) in the Score Editor."

I'll try what you say--
After trying sadly for half hour, at the end I was able to do the thing you said, and it worked... I think cubase does not like me... anyways thanks a lot..

You have to select a midi part with midi information in it.

(You didn't say but I hope you're not trying to open the score on an AUDIO part, IT WONT DO THAT...)

Good basic FREE pdf Cubase book over at auxbuss.com --- says it's for SX, but works with ALL versions of Cubase for the basic info..... VERY handy guide to keep on your computer....
