Compressor while tracking

Hello ladies and gents,
I cannot figure out how to add compression WHILE tracking in Cubase VST.

I can add Compression to the track AFTER it's been recorded but not while it's going in.

is this possible to do or can it not be done....add compression while tracking the input signal that is....

To add compression *while* tracking you'll have to do it *before* the signal hits your converters. Once in the computer, a clipped signal is a clipped signal.

lunatic is right dude

you cant compress with the software while you r recording. you need to compress the signal before its recorded.

There is a lot of afforadble compressors unit that can do a good job.
