    Changing tempo

I've never done this before, so I need to ask a question.
I know that in "special" menu there is a way to change a files beat per minute-"Edit Tempo". Since I haven't used it before, and I'm at work right now, 2 questions.

    1. Is the bpm already in the file?
    2. How would I calculate the bpm?
